Holcim (Singapore) receives Earth Hour Corporate Participation Award 2009

19 May 2009

Holcim (Singapore) is privileged to receive this prestigious Earth Hour Corporate Participation Award for 2009 under the category of " Beyond 60 Minutes" given by Managing Director World Wildlife Funds (WWF) Singapore, Ms. Amy Ho.

For Earth Hour, Holcim (Singapore) not only switched off all our offices and was operating in the dark under minimum lighting during the hour, but also organized family candlelight picnic at esplanade Park on 28 March. The invitation is extended to the employees' family and acquaintances. Despite the limitations on resources, the commitment to 'Vote Earth' managed to boost the employee spirit to extend the green initiatives into a longer working program that last for the whole year in 2009. Thanks to Earth Hour, Holcim (Singapore) has now developed several programs to save energy and to fight climate change with a stronger and more committed team. On the Earth Day, 22 April in the office Holcim (Singapore) launched another 2 green events:

  1. The recycling competition, to which the cash saving from Earth Hour funds goes as an award. Winners will be announced on 5 June, the World's Environment Day
  2. Eco-office program to turn our workplace into an environmentally-friendly business place

Holcim (Singapore) commits to keep supporting Earth Hour by nurturing the spirit to mitigate climate change at all aspects of life. At work, we embark on green movement to save energy -time, cost and environment- for a more sustainable business.
